My regular morning prompt was 'doing donuts'.
The Inktober prompt was 'map'.
I'm subdividing a square grid of points into triangle pairs by quad. The points get pulled up or down in the z axis based on 2D Manhattan street distance from the center of this grid which is diameter/1000 km, round down, across. The z distance is plus or minus the greatest absolute difference, so -2.5 would be greater than 1.5, and the point is +/- 2.5, depending on whether we're building the north or south hemisphere.
(I could always fold a square grid into an octahedral polyhedron)
