This morning's prompt is 'lava trench', and I'm out of prompts.

Welcome to 2024!
This morning's 'a character a day' is yet another face and place...
Here's a thought for points/persons of interest; randomly move around from face and place to face and place, like a random walker but in 3D, or at least within the solar ecliptic, but also beyond? I'd thought about this for world-building the chains of daughter worlds, but it works for regional settlement.

I need to get back on world-building and maps
Back at this thing again...
World Map is coming... I'm going to work on
this
tomorrow.
But I'm still using code from
this.
Just click in the sinusoidal shape to place landmass...
The page needs a number from which to generate some pseudo-random numbers.
I'm using the cross product to detect winding, clockwise or counter, lime or pink! 8-P
This morning's prompt is 'cold sink'.

I need another character for a character A day. A face, a place and a problem?
A baby and a hospital, the problem is too much of a good thing, too many babies being born, not enough staff to go around...
I need to reread 'Alas Babylon', because the doctor kept his fears about how the 'wet firecracker war' (as Heinlein referred to a limited nuclear war elsewhere in his stories), limited but quite destructive, had the doc concerned that there would be no future and was relieved when healthy babies started arriving, like Easter or Christmas. He didn't bother burdening anyone else with this until afterwards.
Good man.

Asterix
My goal for the new year is to write a character every day and see where that goes...
A face, a place and a problem?
A scarred face but a happy home, an asteroid tunnel farm in the main belt a century from now. The problem is a lost cat which got left behind (by accident or on purpose?). The fire was an oxygen fire when a compressed O2 line leaked, sparked and nearly killed the girl, Astrid? I like the name, but maybe to on the nose. The cat's name is Asterix and the girls' name is Sarah, princess, which is her dad's pet name for her.
Her father and mother farm, but the asteroid was originally a scientific and engineering test-bed. It services a loose network of survey robots, corporate mining outposts and dreamers, providing fuel, freight and repair services, as well as food, although the base line for that is rudimentary life support system by products, algae, bacteria and fungi, which if kept healthy, can keep you healthy, but not satisfied... 8-P
