So, I still haven't returned to prompts. Not that I have been sexting chatbots or anything, but I want to write some intimacy with my romantic couple from looking for a zombie apocalypse partner, Ben and Brenda... Yeah, I know!

It started with two hands, two shoulders. Ben was turning to get Brenda's attention quietly and she was doing the same thing. There was a kind of shock of recognition of what this was, then they moved to deal with bthe undead.

"Later", Brenda muttered and Ben just nodded. Tom and Carol were in defense, looking to their hitters to initiate, and weren't disappointed, as Brenda went into demolition mode and smashed heads all in fluid motion. It was a glorious thing to see, Tom thought and looked to where his Mom, Carol was hobbling into Ben's path and making sure he had his back covered, so he went to Brenda. She glanced over and told him to cover his mother, which should have been obvious,bof course. They moved off after Ben, Brenda bringing up the rear.

After half an hour Brenda had handed off rearguard to Tom and then called a rest break.

(I spent the last hour since break thinking about this...)

She looked at Tom and Carol, then pulled Ben off away from them

"Massage my shoulders..."

"Okay. Did you pull something?"

"Maybe..." She turned her head, away from Tom and Carol and kissed his fingers, took his hand and kissed his palm and wrist on up his forearm. Ben froze and then relaxed.

"We're making a show.".

"Let them look." She turned and kissed his lips, not without a quick look over his shoulder. "Anything behind us?"

"Not that I can see." He decided that kiss tasted like more, then she parted his lips and their tongues danced a little dance.

I'm six prompts and six days behind on my sketches...

I have started murderbot diaries and murderbot/SecUnit has grown a lot, and/or Martha Wells has learned a lot about him in the course of write the series for half a dozen years.

That's been my experience. Characters are people in my head and I don't know anyone very well, even my characters, even in my head...

Frank Costigan and Ranger Marianne Boyle spring to mind. Frank has come a long way from a two dimensional character to someone with a little self awareness, becoming a husband and father. Marianne is a ranger's ranger, it's her religion, like Shinto perhaps. One of the twelve precepts is know yourself to know your duty; know your duty to know yourself. You aren't a Human or an Oddity, a Markov or a Trike. You are a Ranger, and someone, somewhere, as Frank put it, has their ass deep in a crack and needs you to come save them.
