I'm giving up and catching up but I will try to use today's prompt.

I got into zpocalypse demographics again last night and decided to go with a pandemic as the initial vector for the z factor, like in twd. This gets us to wildfire and overwhelming numbers.

I went with a death rate of the square root of one half, which is more than 2:1. After that, zombies are worse for wear and increasingly decrepit, while survivors get skilled but also take wounds of the body and spirit, or get bit. In their favor, survivors have survived, lived and hopefully learn, a darwinian gauntlet, and there are fewer and lesser zombies all the time...
