This morning's prompt was 'valentine'.

Stuff!

St. Valentine's Day is coming along next week after the super duper bowl...

If I'm going to do a romantic drabble, I'd like it to be one of my neglected couples, Kendra and her bowyer beau, or Marianne and Frank Costigan... is their little girl an adult now?! Wow, it has been a long time. I need to check in with my big damn space opera.

So, nine months after July 2005 is March 2006, so Faith will be 18 this year. I never figured out the rest of it, but the Conservancy is Marianne's birthright and being a Ranger is her religion, so she will want more kids and she and Costigan will have spent the years fighting for the Cee and saving people who have their asses well and truly stuck in a crack... Faith and her siblings will have grown up with extended family, most of whom will even have been human in various places because her brother and his family will have moved around with various projects. Her dad's family on Dee-lah-wah (8-P) will have been the default gathering place and at times her Mom and later Marianne will have trained recruits there, a Ranger school is wherever their teacher is (standardization is for insects, but quality control will rather thoroughly and at times ruthlessly be enforced).

Faith is 17 going on 1700. Junior is 15 and takes after his grandpa Kevin, a Scout. Veracity is 14 and wants to build things like her Aunt and Uncle or her Greats. Alex is nine and doesn't know what he wants to be, 'leave me alone!' to read and draw, make music and stories, grow plants and take care of broken things. He has adopted a dozen strays and found them good homes or returned them to 'the wild', or whatever a rather well manicured wilderness is on any given world in the Cee. Some of the 'strays' were other children, a few have been rather bewildered adults, it's always weird and wonderful...

I am still thinking about it, but I think that I have written a bit of a Valentine after all.
