The 10 Inktober 2019 prompt was ‘pattern’ and Nelson’s word for today was ‘emotion’ and the word he messaged me yesterday was ‘beach’, which I forgot I had seen and started to reference. For pattern I drew some spirals-

I was working a little on my Space Wreck game today. Belter ships consist of a habitat for human crew, a power plant of some kind, engines and propellant. This is more or less what each wreck is like, only wrecked off course and asteroid mining outfits consist of a ship and stuff brought in or made on the spot, including habitats, power plants, smelters and refineries. Each component has an area on the map or schematic corresponding to the approximate volume.

I want to splat out some dice rolling code I can use for an oracle. I might want a roll for a small population, dunbars’ number of about 150 to 200 is maybe a 3D100, or perhaps 2d6 tens plus 2d6, for 22 ro 132, add 100 if less than 100, or d100+100 even.

Captain Jo gets the character a day ‘treatment’ (a little bit late). Gambling- 26 (26/26) and Knife Fighting- 26, Pickpocket- 2, (and then we get the good stuff 38/38) Haggle- 38 and Find Good Jobs- 38. Captain Jo makes things happen for her little crew. Like a rather lot of belter ships the ‘Hard Luck’ is kludged up from salvage and scavenged odds and ends, very rarely new, purpose-built components or almost ever a ship laid down from all new habitat, power plant, cargo bays, propellant tanks, etc. ‘Hard Luck’ started out as a pressure vessel, some third-hand PV panels, an old plasma thruster and some oxygen tanks, oxygen being pretty cheap most anywhere, a waste product from refining metals, water less so. Organics, nitrogen and life essential elements are pretty dear.

I splatted out a dice utility for d100 and d4, button paragraph elements. I could have done them as clickable elements instead, or as inputs. NdN+N, some number of dice with some number of sides plus some number of adds (default of zero…). A character ‘sheet’ of traits with some value could be ‘rolled’ as dN+N, where N is the trait value so a 23 would generate 24-46 with and average of ~35. This is how the medium controls the roleplay; you got d6s, you roll d6s. You got pennies, you flip pennies. You got cards, you draw cards.
