Happy Nanowrimo! Nelsons’ word was 'book', but I haven’t made a character yet. Here’s the drawing I did=>

So I gave today’s character Librarian- 32, (31/31) Bookseller- 31, Printer- 31, and Illustrator- 18. Elizabeth Pennyfeather studied Library Science while working in the bookstore and print shop, printing, binding and selling books, and learning to draw and illustrate books. She is called the ‘Secret Master’ of the print shop and bookstore, and library too, but this is not far wrong. Not a super heroine, just super skilled. A plot would be nice. Perhaps involving a murder and a rare book? Or, a murder by a rare book, a grimoire, a tome of eldritch spells and ancient ptophecies? And she’s responsible somehow and must make it right or at least stop the damn thing from killing again. Perhaps the grimoire seeks a powerful sacrifice to power some horrible thing?

I’m going to get back to the surfboard story for Nanowrimo. I will not be bludgeoning myself with a word count, just trying to finish a story.

The story so far- a polar bear alien has commissioned an Earther surfboard after his heirloom alien surfboard was destroyed. Some other things may or may not have happened as well; my gut says somebody died and this kind of broke the alien, made him decide he needed some kind of change. All kinds of things are going on in the background while the story seems to be about a surfboard, but it’s not just about a surfboard, dongma?

I have a guy running a surf shop with his ‘silent’ partner and making boards. The partner is not happy with the alien business for reasons to be explored, but mostly the place is all she has left of her dad and while the guy runs it, took over from her dad and owns his piece based on sweat equity, she works it part-time while going to school full-time and the shop is important to her for a little financial security as well as emotional reasons. The guy is only a little bit more reliable than the beach bums he deals with day to day, but there is potential for greatness there, possibly.

The complications have already piled up, but the most recent one was the FBI, which has taken an interest in things. I don’t know how much sense this makes, but they are investigating on behalf of the justice department which is putting together a brief for the executive concerning alien, I  mean non-human, citizenship.

That kind of covers most everything and I will lay down some notes about the plot tomorrow.
